Common use of WORK UNIT VACANCIES Clause in Contracts

WORK UNIT VACANCIES. Section 1. Assignment of employees to designated departments shall be at the discretion of the EMPLOYER. When it is necessary for the EMPLOYER to assign/re-assign an employee to a different work assignment, the EMPLOYER will provide such employee with two (2) weeks advance notice when practicable. A vacant position which is to be filled by the EMPLOYER will normally be posted for not less than seven (7) calendar days within the department where located. REGULAR EMPLOYEES within the same class and department may indicate to the EMPLOYER in writing, their interest in being considered for reassignment to fill the vacant position. Prior to filling the vacancy, the EMPLOYER will give reasonable consideration to the senior qualified REGULAR EMPLOYEE who has requested reassignment to the vacant position.
