Position Vacancies. A. All permanent position vacancies shall be adequately publicized throughout the system for at least ten (10) workdays, and filled in accordance with the following procedures:
1. On a case-by-case basis, the Union President or designee may agree to waive the 10 workday minimum for publicizing the vacancy.
2. All vacancies will be posted on the CCPS website, Xxxxxxx Building vacancy board, and the system newsletter.
3. All employees who desire to apply for a vacancy must submit an application online so as to reach the Office of Human Resource no later than the closing date shown on the notice of vacancy.
4. Each applicant applying shall be informed of the disposition of his or her application.
5. All applicant files will be reviewed by the Office of Human Resources. No position will be permanently filled until all qualified internal applicants have been considered.
6. The parties understand that it is the Superintendent’s responsibility and authority to fill all position vacancies with the best qualified candidate. It is agreed that while no predetermined preference will be afforded, the Superintendent is committed, whenever possible, to the principle that it is beneficial to develop employees from within the system and to provide promotional opportunities to qualified applicants who are currently Board employees.
7. Applicants for a particular position who are currently employed by the Board and who meet the minimum job qualifications as advertised will be given an opportunity to interview.
8. All such qualified applicants as indicated in #6 will be notified no later than 30 calendar days after the position has been filled.
9. Qualified applicants as indicated in #6 shall be notified when a position is being re- posted.
B. Once an applicant has been chosen to fill the vacancy, the newly hired unit member will be placed on the appropriate advertised salary scale, for the position while the vacancy was posted and in accordance to the following procedures:
1. Grade placement will be specified for the position in which the employee was hired per Article 24.
2. The newly hired unit member will be given credit through salary level placement for previous experience and education pertaining to position in which they are hired.
C. Unit members may be appointed to fill temporary vacancies upon approval of the Superintendent or his or her designee. Such appointments may be made when the following conditions are met:

Position Vacancies. When a new position is created or a vacancy occurs in any existing position, the Employer shall forthwith prepare and furnish the Federation and post in places as agreed upon by the Employer and the Federation, a bulletin stating among other things: Location and title of position to be filled; a listing of the principal duties of the position; minimum qualifications; assigned hours of service; assigned days of rest; salary range of the position; whether the position is permanent or temporary; if temporary, how long it is probable the position will continue; the starting date of the assignment; last date when applications will be received and accepted; and with whom the applications shall be filed.

Position Vacancies. Regular bargaining unit position vacancies shall be posted for a period of seven (7) days. A seniority employee on vacation throughout the seven (7) calendar day posting period shall be afforded an opportunity to bid on the position upon return to duty.
