Worker Safety and Health (PL3. 1) Worker safety and health will be considered for each stage of the project: design, construction, operation and decommissioning (closure). Worker health and safety will be based on Mexican NOMs, OSHA and MSHA regulations, and IFC Performance Standards. The design stage will have the following specific considerations: Process identification: to gather all basic safety and health information applicable to the project. Risk identification: to identify and assess processes and critical points posing work risks, and to take specific preventive and response recommendations and/or actions to eliminate, minimize and/or control their causes. Specifications for equipment, machinery and installations: to assess compliance with technical and regulatory requirements for equipment, machinery, and infrastructure The construction, commissioning, and operation stages will have the following specific considerations: Safety and health coordination: to address all issues related to the integration of groups responsible to make operational all safety and health preventive measures, and generate prevention, mitigation, and preparedness methods and techniques to prevent and control all identified work risks Fire and explosion: to cover the adequate protection levels and contingency measures Personal protection equipment: to reduce risk and meet the worker’s needs through the use of personal protection equipment (PPE) Work environment assessment: to comply with regulatory personnel exposure levels specified, for each pollutant or physical strain, in the official standards and methodologies.
