Accidental Total and Permanent Disability definition

Accidental Total and Permanent Disability. (ATPD) shall mean the occurrence of any of the following conditions as a result of Accidental bodily injury:
Accidental Total and Permanent Disability means that the life assured has solely and directly as a result of an accident suffered the following for at least 180 days:

  • This rider benefit ceases after the claim for Accidental Total and Permanent Disability rider is accepted by the Company.

  • The Accidental Total and Permanent Disability rider sum assured is paid in such an event over 10 equal annual installments.

  • Subject to Clause 18.4 and the Policy remaining in force, if the Life Assured suffers total and permanent disability due to Accident anytime during the Policy Term, We will pay the Accidental Total and Permanent Disability Benefit (as specified in the Policy Schedule) as per the Benefit Payout Option chosen by You.

  • Accidental Total and Permanent Disability Benefit is available only on the life of the Life Assured.

  • The level monthly income may extend beyond the policy term.• Accidental Total and Permanent Disability is an accelerated benefit and not an additional benefit.

  • The level monthly income may extend beyond the policy term.• Either Death or Accidental Total and Permanent Disability or Critical Illness benefit is payable during the policy term.

  • In case of death of the Life Assured while receiving Accidental Total and Permanent Disability benefit or Critical Illness benefit; the level monthly income is payable for the outstanding term as applicable to the nominee and no additional benefit will be payable.Accidental Total and Permanent Disability and Critical Illness benefit are an accelerated benefit and not an additional benefit.

  • Disability due to the consequences of or occurring during the events as specified below are not covered: • Sickness and Infection: Accidental Total and Permanent Disability caused or contributed to by any sickness or infection, except infection caused by an external visible wound accidentally sustained.

  • Accidental Total and Permanent Disability Benefit:• In the unfortunate event of Accidental Total and Permanent Disability (ATPD), the sum assured will be paid as per the payout option chosen by you at inception.

  • Total and Permanent Disability means that the Optionee is unable to engage in any substantial gainful activity by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or which has lasted, or can be expected to last, for a continuous period of not less than one year.

  • Permanent Disability means the Executive’s inability to perform the essential functions of the Executive’s position, with or without reasonable accommodation, for a period of at least 120 consecutive days because of a physical or mental impairment.

  • Accidental disability means a physical or mental condition that

  • Permanent total disability means incapacity because of accidental injury or occupational disease to earn any wages in any employment for which the employee may become physically suited and reasonably fitted by education, training or experience, including vocational rehabilitation; loss of both hands, or both feet, or both legs, or both eyes, or any two thereof, shall constitute permanent total disability;

  • Recurrent Disability means a Disability caused by an Injury or Sickness that is the same as, or related to, the cause of a prior Disability for which Monthly Benefits were payable. A Recurrent Disability will be treated as follows.

  • Complete Disability as used herein shall mean the inability of Employee, due to illness, accident, or other physical or mental incapacity, to perform the services required under the Agreement for an aggregate of ninety (90) days within any period of 180 consecutive days during the term hereof; provided, however, that disability shall not constitute a basis for discharge for cause;

  • Permanent and Total Disability means any medically determinable physical or mental impairment rendering an individual unable to engage in any substantial gainful activity, which disability can be expected to result in death or which has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months.

  • Permanent Disablement means a disability falling under one of the items of disablement listed in the scale of compensation in this Policy under Section 1, which was caused by an Accident, as long as the disability lasts for twelve (12) consecutive months from the date of the Accident and at the expiry of that period our appointed Registered Medical Practitioner confirms that the disability is not going to improve after twelve (12) months.

  • Total Disability means a “permanent and total disability” within the meaning of Section 22(e)(3) of the Code and such other disabilities, infirmities, afflictions or conditions as the Committee by rule may include.

  • Permanent partial disability means a permanent disability

  • Pregnancy disability means a pregnancy-related medical condition or miscarriage.

  • Disability means total and permanent disability as defined in Section 22(e)(3) of the Code.

  • Disability/Disabled means because of Injury or Sickness you are unable to perform the material duties of your Regular Occupation, or are receiving disability benefits under the Employer's plan, during the initial 9 months of Disability. Thereafter, you must be unable to perform all of the material duties of any occupation which you may reasonably become qualified based on education, training or experience, or are subject to the terms of a Rehabilitation Plan approved by the Insurance Company.

  • Totally and Permanently Disabled means a person as defined in 42 U.S.C. section 416.

  • Physical disability means a severe, chronic condition that is attributable to a physical impairment that results in substantial limitations of physical functioning in three or more of the following areas of major life activities: self-care, receptive and expressive language, learning, mobility, self-direction, capacity for independent living, and economic self-sufficiency.

  • Disability retirement for plan 1 members, means the period

  • Disability Termination means termination by the Company of the Executive’s employment by reason of the Executive’s incapacitation due to disability. The Executive will be deemed to be incapacitated due to disability if at the end of any month the Executive is unable to perform substantially all of the Executive’s duties under this Agreement in the normal and regular manner due to illness, injury or mental or physical incapacity, and has been unable so to perform for either (i) three consecutive full calendar months then ending, or (ii) 90 or more of the normal working days during the 12 consecutive full calendar months then ending. Nothing in this paragraph alters the Company’s obligations under applicable law, which may, in certain circumstances, result in the suspension or alteration of the foregoing time periods.

  • Partial Disability or "Partially Disabled" means you, as a result of Injury or Sickness, are able to:

  • Disability Date means the date on which a Participant is deemed disabled under the employee benefit plans of the Corporation applicable to the Participant.

  • Child with a disability means a child who, by reason of any of the following, needs special education and related services:

  • Temporary total disability means disability that results in the inability of an injured employee to earn wages as a result of a compensable injury for which disability benefits may not exceed a cumulative total of one hundred four weeks or the date the injured employee reaches maximum medical improvement or maximum medical recovery, whichever occurs first.

  • Disability or Disabled means that during the Elimination Period and your Own Occupation Period you are, as a result of Physical Disease, Injury, Mental Disorder, Substance Abuse or Pregnancy, unable to perform one or more of the Material Duties of your Own Occupation, and, due to such inability, your Work Earnings are less than 80% of your Indexed Predisability Earnings, and you are incapable of earning 80% or more of your Indexed Predisability Earnings. Your Work Earnings may be Deductible Income. See the “LTD Benefit Calculation” and “Deductible Income” sections.

  • Death means death resulting from an injury or occupational disease;

  • Disabled or Disability means Disabled or Disability within the meaning of Section 409A of the Code and the regulations thereunder. Generally, this means that the Participant is unable to engage in any substantial gainful activity by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months, or is, by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months, receiving income replacement benefits for a period of not less than three months under an accident and health plan covering Employees of the Employer.

  • Multiple disabilities means concomitant impairments (such as intellectual disability- blindness, intellectual disability-orthopedic impairment, etc.), the combination of which causes such severe educational needs that they cannot be accommodated in special education programs solely for one of the impairments. The term does not include deaf/blindness.
