Recurrent Disability definition

Recurrent Disability means a Disability caused by an Injury or Sickness that is the same as, or related to, the cause of a prior Disability for which Monthly Benefits were payable. A Recurrent Disability will be treated as follows.

Recurrent Disability means a disability which is related to or due to the same cause(s) of a prior disability for which a monthly benefit was payable.

Recurrent Disability means a Disability that occurs within a specified period of time immediately following a prior period of Disability and which is due to the same or related cause applicable to the prior period of Disability. The specified period of time used to determine whether a subsequent period of Disability is a continuation of a prior period of Disability cannot exceed 180 days.

Examples of Recurrent Disability in a sentence

• If Disability Benefits are not payable on a Change Date because you have Recovered from a prior Disability, a Cost of Living Adjustment will be made on that Change Date if you later have a Recurrent Disability.

• If you no longer qualify for Recurrent Disability for a period of Disability due to the length of your Recovery, any Cost of Living Adjustment for that period of Disability will no longer apply.

• Disability Benefits paid for a Recurrent Disability are considered a continuation of the preceding period of Disability and will not be subject to a new Benefit Waiting Period.

• However, Disability Benefits paid for a Recurrent Disability are subject to the Maximum Benefit Period that started with the preceding period of Disability, and, if the Maximum Benefit Period had ended with respect to the preceding Disability, benefits will not be payable for a Recurrent Disability.

• If you become Disabled due to the same cause or causes within [6] [12] full months after the end of a period of Disability for which Disability Benefits had been paid, the later period of Disability will be considered a Recurrent Disability.

More Definitions of Recurrent Disability

Recurrent Disability means a Disability that occurs within a specified period of time immediately following a prior period of Disability and which is due to the same or related cause applicable to the prior period of Disability. For example, the specified period of time to be shown in the certificate for short term disability plans may be for a period up to 60 days, and for long-term disability plans for a period up to 12 months.

Recurrent Disability means a Disability that occurs within a specified period of time immediately following a prior period of Disability and which is due to the same or related cause applicable to the prior period of Disability. The specified period of time used to determine whether a subsequent period of Disability is a continuation of a prior period of Disability cannot exceed 180 days for a policy with a Benefit Period of five years or less, or 365 days for a policy with a Benefit Period greater than five years. The definition or concept may also provide that a subsequent period of Disability resulting from the same or related cause as a prior period of Disability will not be considered a new period of Disability unless the insured returns to work (not to exceed 40 hours per week), or actively seeks employment during the intervening period of time.

Recurrent Disability means (1) when an Eligible Executive returns to work after a Disability Absence without exhausting the 180-day maximum benefit under this Plan and again becomes disabled from the same or a related condition within 90 calendar days of the end of the prior Disability Absence; (2) when an Eligible Executive incurs additional absences within 90 calendar days of a prior return to work as a result of the same or a related condition; or (3) when a subsequent period of Disability begins for an unrelated condition before the Eligible Executive completes one full day of work following the prior Disability Leave.
