Other Family Members. In the case of death of other family members who are not within the definition of Immediate Family, as stated above, two (2) consecutive days of leave shall be granted for the attendance at a funeral.
Other Family Members. Upon the death of other family members of an employee, as employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave for the five (5) consecutive calendar days which next follow the date of death. The employee shall be paid at regular rate for such working days that were scheduled for the employee during these five (5) calendar days.
Other Family Members. 1. Employees may use sick leave to care for a child, spouse, domestic partner, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, or someone in the immediate household (all people living in the same family unit, not necessarily related) with a serious health or emergency condition as certified in writing by a licensed healthcare provider. The District may require the employee to furnish evidence that no alternative to the employee’s absence is practicable.

Serious health condition means an illness, injury, impairment, or physical or mental condition that involves any period of incapacity or treatment connected with inpatient care in a hospital and the like. It also includes the period of incapacity or subsequent treatment or recovery in connection with the inpatient care as long as it includes any period of inability to work, attend school or perform other regular daily activities.
3. Emergency condition means a health condition that is a sudden, generally unexpected occurrence related to health that demands immediate action, and is very short term in nature.
Other Family Members. In the event a death occurs among other family members of an employee in the Bargaining Unit, the employee shall be granted leave with pay for up to a maximum as follows.
a. For employees with an average regular workweek of 56 hours, the maximum allowable time shall be 48 hours. The 48 hours will consist of 24 hours of bereavement leave provided by the District and 24 hours of sick leave provided by the employee.
Other Family Members. Upon the death of an aunt or uncle not living in the same household, or of an employee’s stepbrother or stepsister, the employee shall be granted one (1) shift, with pay, to attend the funeral, provided the funeral occurs on a day the employee is scheduled to work.
Other Family Members. In the event of the death of a Mother-in law or Father-in- law, grandchild, or grandparent the employee upon request will be granted leave up to three (3) work days within seven (7) calendar days of the death. The employee will be paid for their normal work hours during the leave.
Other Family Members. An employee may be granted time off chargeable to sick leave not to exceed one (1) working day in the event of a death of another family member. Another family member shall be defined as aunt and uncle.

Experience credit for determining salary schedule placement and seniority shall be the same as the experience credit the employee would have received had such person not taken sick leave.
