Domestic and Family Violence definition

Domestic and Family Violence means Domestic and family violence includes physical, sexual, psychological, emotional and verbal abuse. It can also take the form of economic abuse, harassment and/or stalking. These various forms of abuse often occur simultaneously. It involves violent, abusive or intimidating behaviour carried out by a person against a partner or family member to control and dominate that person and causes physical and/or psychological harm. It can also affect the family’s social and financial wellbeing. A family relationship has a broader definition and includes people who are related to one another through blood, marriage or de facto partnerships, adoption and fostering relationships, sibling and extended family relationships. It includes the full range of kinship ties in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) communities, extended family relationships, and families within lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer (LGBTIQ) communities.
Domestic and Family Violence means a person in a family or domestic situation being subjected to patterns of behaviour that may include physical assault, sexual assault, verbal abuse, social isolation, economic deprivation, emotional abuse, threats and intimidation, harassment and/or stalking.

Domestic and Family Violence means behaviour by a person (the first person) towards another person (the second person) with whom the first person is in a relevant relationship (as defined by the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 (Qld) that:

  • Domestic violence means physical harm, bodily injury, assault, or the infliction of fear of imminent physical harm, bodily injury, or assault, between family or household members as defined in RCW 26.50.010; sexual assault of one family or household member by another family or household member; or stalking as defined in RCW 9A.46.110 of one family or household member by another family or household member.

  • Family violence means conduct as defined by S.7 of the Family Violence Act 2004.

  • Domestic or sexual violence means stalking, any sexually violent offense, as defined in N.J.S.A. 30:4-27.26, or domestic violence as defined in N.J.S.A. 2C:25-19, and N.J.S.A. 17:29B-16.

  • Victim of domestic violence means a person protected under this act and shall include any person who is 18 years of age or older or who is an emancipated minor and who has been subjected to domestic violence by a spouse, former spouse, or any other person who is a present or former household member. "Victim of domestic violence" also includes any person, regardless of age, who has been subjected to domestic violence by a person with whom the victim has a child in common, or with whom the victim anticipates having a child in common, if one of the parties is pregnant. "Victim of domestic violence" also includes any person who has been subjected to domestic violence by a person with whom the victim has had a dating relationship.

  • Domestic Animal means any animal which is tamed or which has been or is being sufficiently tamed to serve some purpose for the use of man or which, although it neither has been nor is intended to be so tamed, is or has become in fact wholly or partly tamed-,

  • Marriage and family therapy means the assessment and treatment of mental and emotional disorders, whether cognitive, affective, or behavioral, within the context of marriage and family systems. Marriage and family therapy involves the application of psycho‑therapeutic and family systems theories and techniques in the delivery of services to individuals, couples, and families for the purpose of treating diagnosed emotional, mental, behavioral, or addictive disorders.

  • Domestic abuse means the following, if committed against a family or household member by a family or household member:

  • Marriage and family therapist means a marriage and family therapist licensed by the board to practice marriage and family therapy as defined in division (G) of section 4757.01 of the Revised Code.

  • Practice of marriage and family therapy means the professional application of family systems theories, principles and techniques to treat interpersonal relationship issues and nervous, mental and emotional disorders that are cognitive, affective or behavioral. The practice of marriage and family therapy includes:

  • Sexual violence means any sexual act or act targeting a person’s sexuality, gender identity or gender expression, whether the act is physical or psychological in nature, that is committed, threatened or attempted against a person without the person’s consent, and includes sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, stealthing, indecent exposure, voyeurism and sexual exploitation.

  • Participating Marriage and Family Therapist means a Marriage and Family Therapist who has a written agreement with the Claim Administrator or another Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield Plan to provide services to you at the time services are rendered.

  • Family caregiver means a relative by blood, marriage, or Adoption who lives with or is the primary Caregiver of the terminally ill Member.

  • Domestic use means that portion of metered water service, electricity, electrical current, natural, artificial or propane gas, wood, coal or home heating oil, and in any city not within a county, metered or unmetered water service, which an individual occupant of a residential premises uses for nonbusiness, noncommercial or nonindustrial purposes. Utility service through a single or master meter for residential apartments or condominiums, including service for common areas and facilities and vacant units, shall be deemed to be for domestic use. Each seller shall establish and maintain a system whereby individual purchases are determined as exempt or nonexempt;

  • Certified Domestic Violence Specialist means a person who has fulfilled the requirements of certification as a Domestic Violence Specialist established by the New Jersey Association of Domestic Violence Professionals.

  • Violence means the unjustified infliction of physical force by a student with the intent to cause injury to another student or damage to the property of another student.

  • Family abuse means any act involving violence, force, or threat that results in bodily injury or

  • Family child care home means a private home in which 1 but fewer than 7 minor children are received for care and supervision for compensation for periods of less than 24 hours a day, unattended by a parent or legal guardian, except children related to an adult member of the household by blood, marriage, or adoption. Family child care home includes a home in which care is given to an unrelated minor child for more than 4 weeks during a calendar year. A family child care home does not include an individual providing babysitting services for another individual. As used in this subparagraph, "providing babysitting services" means caring for a child on behalf of the child's parent or guardian if the annual compensation for providing those services does not equal or exceed $600.00 or an amount that would according to the internal revenue code of 1986 obligate the child's parent or guardian to provide a form 1099-MISC to the individual for compensation paid during the calendar year for those services.

  • Designated domestic violence agency means a county-wide organization with a primary purpose to provide services to victims of domestic violence, and which provides services that conform to the core domestic violence services profile as defined by the Division of Child Protection and Permanency in the Department of Children and Families and is under contract with the division for the express purpose of providing the services.

  • Family or household members means spouses, domestic partners, former spouses, former domestic partners, persons who have a child in common regardless of whether they have been married or have lived together at any time, adult persons related by blood or marriage, adult persons who are presently residing together or who have resided together in the past, persons sixteen years of age or older who are presently residing together or who have resided together in the past and who have or have had a dating relationship, persons sixteen years of age or older with whom a person sixteen years of age or older has or has had a dating relationship, and persons who have a biological or legal parent-child relationship, including stepparents and stepchildren and grandparents and grandchildren.

  • Dating violence means violence committed by a person who is or has been in a social relationship of a romantic or intimate nature with the victim. The existence of a romantic or intimate relationship will be determined based on the length of the relationship, the type of relationship and the frequency of interaction between the persons involved in the relationship.

  • Family or household member means (i) the person's spouse, whether or not he or she resides in the

  • Family Company means a company that is owned directly or indirectly by or for two or more natural persons who are related as siblings or spouse (including former spouses), or direct lineal descendants by birth or adoption, spouses of such persons, the estates of such persons, or foundations, charitable organizations or trusts established for the benefit of such persons. For purposes of determining the amount of investments owned by a company, there may be included investments owned by majority-owned subsidiaries of the company and investments owned by a company (“Parent Company”) of which the company is a majority-owned subsidiary, or by a majority-owned subsidiary of the company and other majority-owned subsidiaries of the Parent Company. In determining whether a natural person is a qualified purchaser, there may be included in the amount of such person’s investments any investment held jointly with such person’s spouse, or investments in which such person shares with such person’s spouse a community property or similar shared ownership interest. In determining whether spouses who are making a joint investment in the Partnership are qualified purchasers, there may be included in the amount of each spouse’s investments any investments owned by the other spouse (whether or not such investments are held jointly). There shall be deducted from the amount of any such investments any amounts specified by paragraph 2(a) of Annex 2 incurred by such spouse. In determining whether a natural person is a qualified purchaser, there may be included in the amount of such person’s investments any investments held in an individual retirement account or similar account the investments of which are directed by and held for the benefit of such person.
