Examples of Point of Information in a sentence
A Point of Information takes precedence over a main motion, is not debatable, is not amendable, is not superseded by other motions, and is ruled on for appropriateness by the Presiding Officer.
The speaker may choose to accept a Point of Information or to reject or waive down a Point of Information.
In Parliamentary Debate, the opposing debaters may ask to see the debaters’ notes containing any cited material as part of a Point of Information and the team reading the cited materials must show the handwritten notes, with citation, upon such request.
Point of Information: anybody may ask a question of the Chair regarding procedural, parliamentary, or legislative issues.
Interruptions – During a substantive speech (an 8-minute speech) a competitor from the opposite team may rise to offer a Point of Information.
