Independent Private Instruction (IPI) means instruction that meets the following criteria:1.
Completion of the Private Instruction form obtaining prior approval from an assistant principal is required.
Work Experience, Private Instruction, and Independent Study courses may not be counted as part of the 6 units.
For Private Instruction – Proof that the child is being instructed using a recognized and accredited program of study.
Note these exceptions:Pass/Fail Courses: (Student Assistant, Private Instruction, Community Experience, and Off-Campus Independent Study) A student receives a grade of Pass (P) by meeting the minimum standards established by the teacher.
Compliance with this requirement will be verified for children enrolling in kindergarten and children under the age of 6 for whom a Competent Private Instruction under Option 1, or Option 2 where the child is dually enrolled.
Complete the report of Competent Private Instruction (Form A-available from the district of residence and found on pages 20-21 of this handbook) and return it to the resident district by September 1 or within 14 days of commencing CPI.
For children who receive CPI or Independent Private Instruction (See #17 below), compulsory attendance age includes children who are 6 years old by September 15 and younger than 16.
