University Support definition

University Support means the use of University funds or more than the incidental use of University personnel, facilities, equipment, materials, or technological information in the creation of a work or invention and includes such support provided by outside sponsors when it is arranged, administered, or controlled by the University.
University Support means the non-incidental use of University funds, personnel, facilities, equipment, materials, technological information, or students in the creation or making of a Work or Invention; and does not include the incidental use of resources made available to the University community for common use. University Support includes such support provided by other public or private organizations when it is arranged, administered, or controlled by the University.
University Support means (1) the appreciable use of University resources, such as funds, personnel, facilities, equipment, materials, technological information, or students, (2) course release, and/or (3) support provided by other public or private organizations when it is arranged, administered, or controlled by the University or a University direct support organization. For a use of University resources to be appreciable, it must go beyond the resources commonly or routinely provided or made available to similarly situated employees for the performance of their assignment. For example, the routine use of resources such as the libraries; one’s office, office computer and other University computer facilities; and office supplies, is not considered appreciable University Support.

Examples of University Support in a sentence

  • Inventions made in the field or discipline in which the employee is employed by the University, or by using University Support, are the property of the University and the employee shall share in the proceeds therefrom.

  • Persons may be appointed to classified or unclassified, including University Support Staff, positions without regard to family relationship to or living arrangements with other members of faculty or staff so long as the personnel processes are conducted and decisions are made in compliance with this provision as well as institutional and Board policies.

  • Claims and appeals concerning Inventions shall be limited to disagreements among multiple Creators and to the applicability of University Support in determining ownership.

  • All Inventions made outside the field or discipline in which the employee is employed by the University, and for which no University Support has been used, are the property of the employee, subject to 35 U.S.C. 115, who has the right to determine the disposition of such property and revenue derived from such property.

  • Examples of such groups include student organizations, honor societies, fraternities, sororities, alumni associations, faculty committees, University Support Personnel Systems council, direct support organizations, the United Faculty of Florida, etc.
