OPERATING SCENARIOS FOR COMPLETE LIQUEFACTION SYSTEM. 5 3.2. COLD-BOX COMPRESSOR 5
OPERATING SCENARIOS FOR COMPLETE LIQUEFACTION SYSTEM. The complete helium liquefaction system proposed by the Bidder, including compressor and buffer, shall be compliant to all the three following modes of operation (scenarios) foreseen for the LASA plant. Mode Short name Requirements Comment #1 Pure liquefaction Liquefaction rate, not less than 120 l/h - Measured as liquid level increase in the external, directly connected storage dewar - Assuming dry helium input (contaminants < 10 ppm in volume) - Assuming liquid nitrogen availability for heat-exchanger precooling #2 Partial refrigeration Cryogenic power, not less than 150 W @ 4.5 K Concurrent residual liquefaction rate not less than 70 l/h - Refrigeration supply served as saturated Helium, indicatively 5-6 K at 3 bar. - Refrigeration power measured at the outlet of cold-box - Liquefaction measured as per mode #1 #3 Cool-Down Controlled cool-down of large masses - Confirmation from Bidder that liquefier can be used, with the interfaces required by mode #1 and #2, to cool-down external masses together with the cold-box itself. The compressor unit proposed by the Bidder must have an overall electrical consumption lower than 150 kW to comply with the operating modes described in 3.1. The compressor must be equipped with its own oil removal system and gas management panel to be fully compliant to the liquefier peak performance requirements.
