Absences Because of Illness. or Injury in the Employee’s Family. (Subdivisions 2A through 2E apply to employees who have not worked for the district the previous 12 months). A. In the event of an illness or injury in an employee’s family, for which other care cannot be arranged, an employee may be granted paid absence leave to be deducted from accumulated paid absence leave in accordance with MN statute. B. Approval of a request for paid absence leave due to family illness or injury and the duration of the paid absence is, in all cases, subject to the approval of the Supervisor. C. Family, for the purposes of this Subdivision shall be defined as the employee’s spouse, child, mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in- law, brother, sister, son-in- law, daughter-in-law and household member. D. Prior to final approval of the paid absence, the Human Resources Director shall have the right to require an employee to furnish medical evidence from the school health officer or a qualified physician, indicating such absence was due to family illness or injury in accordance with Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) Law. E. Approved paid absence due to a family illness or injury shall be deducted from the employee’s accumulated paid absence. (Subd 2F-2H apply to employees who have worked 12 months or more and meet the eligibility criteria.) F. In the event of an illness or injury in the employees’ family for which other care cannot be arranged, an employee may be granted paid absence leave to be deducted from accumulated paid absence leave in accordance with MN statute. G. Approval of a request for Paid Absence Leave due to family illness or injury and the duration of the paid absence leave in all cases, is subject to the approval of the supervisor. H.
