Accountable Community/Collaboration Professional Learning Community. 1.1 A Professional Learning Community (PLC) is an ongoing process in which educators work collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective inquiry and action research to achieve better results for students. This collaborative work expands the emphasis on student learning and leverages individual teacher efficacy into collective teacher efficacy. The process is grounded in a focus on equity of access and opportunity, high expectations for all students, and a commitment to student learning. The purpose of Accountable Community collaboration time is for teachers to work together to improve and support student learning guided by the College and Career Ready Standards, the California Standards for the Teaching Profession, and the District Continuum of Standards for the Teacher Profession.
