Common use of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Clause in Contracts

Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. During negotiations the parties reaffirmed their conviction that it is important to provide help to employees afflicted with alcohol and drug dependence. We share a common belief that it is more important to provide assistance to such afflicted individuals to motivate them to help themselves overcome their problems, rather than to rely solely on discipline. Further, employees who seek assistance are assured of the privacy and confidentiality of matters discussed and may refer problems to the Substance Abuse Representative from Brampton Assembly Plant. Accordingly, the parties have expressed their mutual wish to continue with their efforts toward this common goal.
