Conferences and Seminars. The County recognizes the value to be obtained from having employees attend management approved job- related conferences and seminars. It shall be the policy of the County, whenever possible and within departmental guidelines, to advance employee's transportation, lodging, and meal allowances, if applicable, prior to the employee leaving for the conference or seminar.

Conferences and Seminars. (a) Where practical, employees may be permitted to attend conferences and seminars of a specialized nature in their respective fields at Employer expense. Upon return from such conferences or seminars, the employee may be required to submit a report to the Employer. (b) Where an employee is, or will be, required to operate technical equipment or use new methods during the course of her duties and where seminars, demonstrations, or conferences are held pertaining to such technical equipment or new methods, the employee may attend such demonstrations, conferences or seminars upon approval, by the Employer, of her application. Employees shall suffer no loss of basic pay as a result of such attendance. (c) An employee who attends a conference, convention, seminar or staff meeting at the request of the Employer, shall be deemed to be on duty and, as required, on travel status.

It is recognised that attendance at relevant sector or professional practice conferences and seminars can provide professional development opportunities for employees as well as information exchange and networking for the organisation. Attendance at such activities is subject to authorisation by the employer at their discretion. Where an employee is authorised to attend a conference, seminar or on line learning (e.g. webinars) on behalf of the organisation, such attendance forms part of their normal duties and counts as paid work time.

Conferences and Seminars. (a) The Employer recognizes the benefits of having employees attend conferences and seminars of a specialized nature in their respective fields. To this end, and subject to budgetary concerns, if prior approval is received, the Employer agrees to pay all reasonable expenses for an employee to attend a conference or seminar. (b) Where an employee is operating, or will be required to operate, technical equipment or use new methods during the course of their duties, where seminars, demonstrations or conferences are held pertaining to such technical equipment or new methods and budgetary concerns are met, the employee may attend such demonstrations, conferences or seminars upon approval of her application by the Employer. Employees shall not suffer loss of regular salary as a result of such attendance. (c) Approval shall be given on a fair and equitable basis, shall be consistent with the needs of the Employer and shall not be unreasonably withheld.
Conferences and Seminars. 36.1 When an employee covered by this Collective Agreement is authorized to attend a conference, seminar or meeting on behalf of the Employer, the Employer will grant such time off with pay as is required for attendance at the conference, seminar or meeting. 36.2 Where the conference, seminar or meeting is not within the normal commuting distance to the work place, the Employer shall also grant such time off with pay as is reasonably required to travel to and from the conference, seminar or meeting when it is necessary to travel in what would otherwise be a regularly scheduled shift. 36.3 Overtime as noted in this Collective Agreement shall not apply to Article 36. 36.4 The Employer will reimburse the employee for all reasonable expenses incurred for travel, meals and accommodation in accordance with the University's policy at the time the expenses were incurred. 36.5 Where employees are required by the Employer to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualifications, the Employer shall pay the full costs associated with the courses. This will not include courses required by the Employer as a condition of employment for new Employees.
