Common use of Alternative Evaluation Clause in Contracts

Alternative Evaluation. 6.4.1 The alternative teacher evaluation process is designed to increase opportunities for professional growth available to the District's tenured teaching staff. It serves as an alternative to the traditional performance evaluation process to encourage accomplished teachers to continue their professional development and personal growth. The evaluation options provide flexibility, permitting teachers to grow in self-chosen areas of interest. 6.4.2 Participants will be tenured teachers who have consistently demonstrated competence in previous evaluations, and who wish to engage in a personalized program of professional growth. There will be no limitation on the number of participants at each site. The principal and teacher may determine a mutually agreeable alternative evaluation option. 6.4.3 Participating teachers will set meaningful goals which will serve as a focus for their professional growth, and establish suitable criteria for the evaluation of that growth. 6.4.4 At a conference held prior to November 1, the teacher and the administrator will agree on these goals, the evaluation option, and the criteria for evaluation.
