Objectivity & Balance Providers are required by our policy and the CPME Standards to ensure that the program be objective, balanced, and scientifically rigorous.

Ancillary Promotional Activities. Product-promotion material or product-specific advertisement of any type is prohibited under this Letter of Agreement for Commercial Support. For example, Commercial Interest may not display or distribute promotional materials or engage in sales or promotional activities at the CME educational activity under this Letter of Agreement for Commercial Support. Commercial Interest may not be the agent providing the CME educational activity to the learners.

Objectivity & Balance: Sponsor will make every effort to ensure that data regarding the company’s products (or competing products) are objectively selected and presented, with favorable and unfavorable information and balanced discussion of prevailing information on the product(s) and/or alternative treatments. Limitations on Data: Sponsor will ensure, to the extent possible, meaningful disclosure of limitations on data, e.g., ongoing research, interim analyses, preliminary data, or unsupported opinion. Discussion of Unapproved Uses: Sponsor will require that presenters disclose when a product is not approved in the United States for the use under discussion. Opportunities for Debate: Sponsor will ensure meaningful opportunities for questioning or scientific debate. Independence of Sponsor in the Use of Contributed Funds: Funds should be in the form of an educational grant made payable to GBMC (accredited sponsor). All other support associated with this CME activity (e.g., distributing brochures, preparing slides, etc.) must be given with the full knowledge and approval of GBMC (accredited provider). No other funds from the Commercial Company will be paid to the program director, faculty, or others involved with the CME activity (additional honoraria, extra social events, etc.) The Commercial Supporter agrees to abide by all requirements of the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support of Continuing Medical Education (appended). The Accredited Sponsor agrees to: 1) abide by the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support of Continuing Medical Education; 2) Acknowledge educational support from the commercial company in program brochures, syllabi, and other program materials, and 3) upon request, furnish the commercial supporter a report concerning expenditure of the funds provided. Ancillary Promotional Activities. Product-promotion materials or product-specific advertisements of any type are prohibited in or during the CME activity. Live or enduring promotional activities must be kept separate from CME. Educational materials that are part of the CME activity, such as slides, abstracts and handouts, cannot contain any advertising, trade name, logos, or product-group message. Furthermore, social events or meals sponsored at the CME activity cannot compete or take precedence over the educational event.
