Common use of Apprentice Employment Clause in Contracts

Apprentice Employment. 8.5.1 Full time apprentices under this agreement are engaged for the purpose of undertaking a course of training specified in a Vocational Training Order approved by the Commissioner for Vocational Training. 8.5.2 Employment as an apprentice under this agreement shall commence when the relevant training agreement, has been signed by the apprentice and the company, and lodged for registration with the Commissioner for Vocational Training. 8.5.3 Persons engaged as apprentices shall be required to complete a period of three months probation on commencement of employment with the Company. 8.5.4 Employment under this agreement shall cease when the apprentice completes the period of the apprenticeship, and other requirements, specified in the Vocational Training Order applicable to the course undertaken. Where the apprentice completes the qualification requirements earlier than the time specified in the Vocational Training Order then the apprenticeship may be concluded by mutual agreement. 8.5.5 The Company shall ensure that the apprentice is permitted to attend the training course or program provided for in the Vocational Training Order. The company shall also ensure that the trainee receives appropriately supervised on-the-job training in accordance with the Vocational Training Order during the apprenticeship period. 8.5.6 Full time apprentices shall be entitled to the applicable rate of pay specified in addition to the tool allowance specified in Appendix I. An apprentice shall progress from one year to another upon satisfactory completion of the appropriate TAFE course for that year. 8.5.7 Where an apprentice is unable to attend TAFE due to illness, the apprentice shall provide a medical certificate to indicate their inability to attend TAFE. Where a medical certificate is not provided the Apprentice shall not be paid for that day.

Apprentice Employment. 8.5.1 Full 4.4.1 The Company may engage Employees as indentured Apprentices. 4.4.2 A Junior Apprentice shall be paid the applicable hourly rate prescribed in Table C in Appendix 2 of this Agreement. Where a medical certificate is not provided the Apprentice shall not be paid entitled to payment for that day. 4.4.11 All fees charged by a TAFE / RTO and the cost of all prescribed text books for the Apprenticeship, which are paid by an Apprentice, shall be reimbursed by the Company within six months of commencement of the apprenticeship or a stage of the Apprenticeship, or within 3 months of the commencement of training provided by the TAFE / RTO, whichever is the later, unless there is unsatisfactory progress. The Company may meet its obligation under this clause by paying any fees and / or cost of text books directly to the TAFE / RTO.
