ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. The Health Centre recognizes the following as designated paid holidays. New Year's Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day Civic Holiday (1st Monday in August) And any other day proclaimed as a stat holiday. When any of the above noted holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday and are not proclaimed as being observed on some other day, the following Monday and/or Tuesday and/or the preceding Friday shall be deemed to be holidays for the purpose of this Agreement at the discretion of the Health Centre. In addition to the above designated paid holidays the Health Centre will provide each full- time employee who has completed her probation, with three (3) non-premium floating holidays once in each calendar year, at a time mutually agreeable to the Health Centre and the employee. In the event mutual agreement cannot be reached, the employee shall be allowed to take the floating holidays with her scheduled vacation. A part-time employee who transfers to a full-time position during the course of a calendar year, or a new full-time employee hired during the course of a calendar year, shall have her float days pro-rated according to the effective date of her transfer. In order to qualify for payment for each designated holiday, an employee must work her normally scheduled shift both immediately preceding and immediately following the holiday, unless absence on either or both of the said qualifying days is with reasonable cause. When any of the above mentioned designated holidays fall on or are observed on an employee’s regularly scheduled day off, she will receive an additional day off in lieu with pay at a time mutually convenient to the employee and the Health Centre. In the event that mutual agreement cannot be reached, the employee may take the day off in conjunction with her vacation period.

ARTICLE HOLIDAYS. The Health Centre recognizes Technicians working extended hours covering Monday through Sunday will work statutory holidays and proclaimed days as required by their schedule. Under special circumstances, the Employer will consider a written request to accumulate more than forty (40) hours. If an employee wishes to observe significant holy days of their faith they may designate in writing by November to the supervisor, up to three alternate statutory holidays, in lieu of Good Friday, andlor Easter Monday andlor Christmas Day, which are observed as significant in August) And any the employee's faith. However, unless absence an employee shall not lose his holiday pay if absent on either or both qualifying days because of illness or injury which is verified by a certificate signed by a duly recognized medical doctor or he is absent with the specific written permission of the said qualifying Employer, provided he has been at work within three (3) days of the holiday, whether before or after such holiday. A shift that begins or ends during the twenty-four (24) hour period of the holiday, where more than percent (50%) of hours worked fall within the holiday shall be deemed to be work performed on the holiday for the full period of the shift. Where an employee is with reasonable causescheduled to work on a holiday, the employee shall be paid at a rate of time and one half (1%) the regular hourly rate for all hours worked, and will be given their choice of eight (8) hours in lieu time at a mutually agreeable time or eight (8) hours of pay at their regular hourly rate.
