Asynchronous Collaboration. The students used asynchronous com- munication tools like forums, shared documents (Google Docs), shared folders (Google Drive). The course went over a duration of 12 weeks from mid March to mid June 2016. A particular challenge was the harmonization of the course schedule between Tampere and Magdeburg, as Magdeburg’s term las- xxx till mid of July. This was solved by adding an open project phase at the end of the course, where students designed further content for their project. In mixed teams, Tampere students were asked to express clearly whether and how they would commit to the project beyond the end of Tampere’s Spring term. 5 ECTS were awarded for the course. Platform Method Communication Centre of the course was a facebook group: xxxxx://xxx.xxxxxxxx.xxx/groups/193749940998027/ Synchronous lecture and consulting sessions were hosted on Adobe Connect. Slack was used as the asynchronous communication tool of choice with most teams. Google Drive/Docs served as standard for gene- ral collaborative content development and sharing. OnCreate Teaching Methods (i.e. methods that we specifically adapted to online collaboration): Multidisciplinary team Other used methods: Gamified team building – The students created xxxxx-cards in which they identified their strengths and weaknesses OnCreate Evaluation Methods The OnCreate decision making questionnaire was tested in this course. Among other questions, the team members were asked about their sa- tisfaction a) with the decision making processes during the collaboration and b) with the creative output of their teamwork on a scale from 1 to
Asynchronous Collaboration. Using asynchronous communication tools like forums, shared documents, shared folders. This course has this as an option, but does not require actual collaboration. The course is concepted as a self-learning course that can be used as learning material within other courses, so no ECTS are awarded. Students should plan 4-8 hours for the course, depending on how intense they work with the extra literature given in the course. This course has been realized on the MOOC platform Xxxxxxxx.xxx • Video Tutorials • Video Quizzes • Asynchronous Forum discussions This is a free-paced self-learning course with the following chapters:
Asynchronous Collaboration. Using asynchronous communication tools like forums, shared documents, shared folders. A particular interesting form of asynchronous collaboration are Design Thinking processes where each partner builds on the existing work of the other partner. As with all student participation in OnCreate courses, the 3D Asset Pipe- line course for Lincoln students was an extracurricular commitment. This is due to the inflexibility and inability of most British HE curriculums to support the ease of swapping credits for ECTS. This did not prevent parti- cipation however, it just meant extra incentives were required to promote and recruit to the course as an extracurricular activity (see Experience Report). In extracurricular mode, the duration of the course was 2 months:

As with the Collaboration Methods, the logistics of the course varied bet- ween institutions. The details of which are listed below to demonstrate that the course can be run as either an extension to an existing curricu- xxx or as an extracurricular activity: Lincoln As with all student participation in OnCreate courses, Branding Design 2 for Lincoln students was an extracurricular commitment. This is due to the inflexibility and inability of most British HE curriculums to support the ease of swapping credits for ECTS. This did not prevent participation xx- xxxxx, it just meant extra incentives were required to promote and recru- it to the course as an extracurricular activity (see Experience Report). In extracurricular mode, the course ran for 4 weeks with a physical stu- dio meeting of all Lincoln participants on Wednesday afternoons. The intensity was moderate with students working intensively during the 3 hour Wednesday studio sessions and contributing/augmenting ad hoc in between. There were 0 ECTS awarded to Lincoln students but all who participated were eligible to have the time spent working on this course counted to- wards an optional rewards scheme for volunteer work. Magdeburg In Magdeburg, the course was taught twice over 4 weeks as a part of the module “Design Methods in Cross Media” and awarded with 1 ECTS. The students worked in teams of 3. In the first iteration of the course, the workshops combined students present in a lecture room with online students from both Magdeburg and Tampere UAS.

Related to Asynchronous Collaboration

  • Collaboration We believe joint effort toward common goals achieves trust and produces greater impact for L.A. County’s youngest children and their families.

  • Research Use The Requester agrees that if access is approved, (1) the PI named in the DAR and (2) those named in the “Senior/Key Person Profile” section of the DAR, including the Information Technology Director and any trainee, employee, or contractor1 working on the proposed research project under the direct oversight of these individuals, shall become Approved Users of the requested dataset(s). Research use will occur solely in connection with the approved research project described in the DAR, which includes a 1-2 paragraph description of the proposed research (i.e., a Research Use Statement). Investigators interested in using Cloud Computing for data storage and analysis must request permission to use Cloud Computing in the DAR and identify the Cloud Service Provider (CSP) or providers and/or Private Cloud System (PCS) that they propose to use. They must also submit a Cloud Computing Use Statement as part of the DAR that describes the type of service and how it will be used to carry out the proposed research as described in the Research Use Statement. If the Approved Users plan to collaborate with investigators outside the Requester, the investigators at each external site must submit an independent DAR using the same project title and Research Use Statement, and if using the cloud, Cloud Computing Use Statement. New uses of these data outside those described in the DAR will require submission of a new DAR; modifications to the research project will require submission of an amendment to this application (e.g., adding or deleting Requester Collaborators from the Requester, adding datasets to an approved project). Access to the requested dataset(s) is granted for a period of one (1) year, with the option to renew access or close-out a project at the end of that year. Submitting Investigator(s), or their collaborators, who provided the data or samples used to generate controlled-access datasets subject to the NIH GDS Policy and who have Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval and who meet any other study specific terms of access, are exempt from the limitation on the scope of the research use as defined in the DAR.
