Award of the degree. If the PhD student has successfully passed the doctoral examinations according to the regulations of both universities, each of the partner institutions will award the following doctoral degrees: At LUH: ___________________________________________________________________________ At ______: ___________________________________________________________________________ A decision by one university not to award the degree does not preclude the other university from awarding the degree. A decision by one university to award the degree does not entail the obligation for the other university to award the degree. It should be stated on the diploma and/or a supplement that the obtained degree is a cotutelle degree. The PhD student obtains the right to hold ONE doctoral degree. After the PhD student has received the diploma she/he is not permitted to hold two doctoral degrees simultaneously. The publication of the doctoral thesis is prerequisite of the degree certificate of LUH. The award of the doctorate is set into effect with the certificate; only then the candidate has the right to hold the title of the degree.

Each degree refers to the joint supervision of the doctorate and to the degree that the partner institution will award. Award of the degree. Each of the Universities agrees to deliver an award if the PhD student is successful in the thesis defence. UEA will award the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). [XX] will award the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). [XX] will provide a testimony stating the degree was obtained in association with UEA. UEA will provide an accompanying statement that the award is for a thesis jointly supervised by the University of East Anglia and the [XX], in addition to the UEA degree parchment.

The two institutions will in case of a successful completion of the Doctoral Examination, award respectively the Title of Degree at Partner University and the degree of Philosophiae Doctor at Norwegian University of Science and Technology to the Doctorate. The Diploma (Certificate) will be issued by each of the parties according to the templates applied at each University. The contribution by the cooperating institution shall be explicitly stated in the Certificate.
