Backwards Compatibility. (a) In addition to the warranties contained in Section 17 of this Contract, the Vendor represents and warrants that each Software Revision Level during the Term of this Contract will be Backwards Compatible with all existing in-service Equipment provided by the Vendor and the immediately preceding Software Revision Level of such Software made available to Customers by the Vendor.

So long as the Owner has opted to deploy any one of the last two (2) consecutive Software Revision Levels prior to the current Software Revision Level, the Owner will not be required to purchase more than one Software Revision Level of the Software at each System Element Location to achieve the functionality and features of the most current Software Revision Level of the Software and to maintain Backwards Compatibility.
Backwards Compatibility. MOTOROLA and its SUBSIDIARIES grant to IRIDIUM a non-exclusive, irrevocable, non-transferable (except as expressly provided herein), worldwide, fully paid-up, royalty-free license during the TERM under the MOTOROLA SYSTEM IP RIGHTS, to the extent necessary to assure backward compatibility between SATELLITE SUBSCRIBER EQUIPMENT designed for and operable on either of the IRIDIUM SYSTEMS and a THIRD GENERATION IRIDIUM SYSTEM, to design, deploy, make, use, import, operate, and maintain those components of a THIRD GENERATION IRIDIUM SYSTEM that are necessary to assure such backward compatibility.
