Common use of Bereavement Observed Clause in Contracts

Bereavement Observed. A bargaining unit member may be granted up to five (5) days of available leave (i.e., sick leave, vacation leave, or compensatory time in accordance with Articles 11, 13, and 15) to be paid as chosen by the employee for the death of a member of the employee’s immediate family. In the event of no available leave balances, the employee may be granted leave without pay in accordance with Section 14.6 of this Agreement.
