Certification of Welders all certification records of Iron Workers will be kept in the Apprentice Office and exchanged with contractors upon request. All contractors certifying welders shall be required to send copies of certification to the Apprentice Office.

Certification of Welders. 14.3 The Apprenticeship Training School or a similar facility is certified as an accredited test facility by the American Welding Society (AWS).All welders shall be certified in accordance with AWS standards. For welders employed at the time this Agreement is ex- ecuted, all costs incurred at the Employer’s request shall be paid by the Employer, except when certification is performed by the Apprentice- ship Training School. Welders who have initially been certified shall be responsible for maintaining certification in accordance with AWS xxxx- dards. At the time of hire, awelder must present avalid AWScertification card.
Certification of Welders. The Employer agrees that if the type of work requires certification, the Employer will bear all the expense and the certification papers will be given the Welder only upon termination of the job or if the Welder is laid off before. When certifying Welders on a project a Helper is not required provided the testing is removed from the immediate construction area and the testing is performed in a protected area. Iron Workers Local Union No. 392 shall maintain records of all certified Welders and serve as a clearing house for same. A method of training and testing will be developed for off-site testing to develop more certified Welders and decrease the cost involved in the testing.
