Common use of Chief Clause in Contracts

Chief. An employee who has a grievance must submit in writing to the Chief within five (5) calendar days after the occurrence of the events upon which his grievance is based. The grievance shall include the name and the position of the grievant, the identity of the provisions of this Agreement involved in the grievance; the time and place where the alleged events or conditions giving rise to the grievance took place, the identity of the party responsible for causing said grievance, if known to the grievant; and a general statement of the nature of the grievance and the redress sought by the grievant. The grievance shall be signed and dated by the grievant and /or Xxxxxxx for the bargaining unit. The Chief shall give his answer within five (5) calendar days after receipt of the grievance. The Chief's answer shall be given to the grievant or the FOP.
