Christmas Scheduling. Each nurse will be scheduled off work for not less than four (4) consecutive days at either Christmas or New Years. It is understood that nurses who are granted vacation in the two pay periods which includes the Christmas and New Years’ period will not be guaranteed the four (4) consecutive days off noted above. This provision will not apply to areas where nurses normally work Monday to Friday and are not normally scheduled to work on paid holidays. A nurse may request a lesser benefit under this provision. If you are scheduled to work Christmas you will be scheduled either Christmas Eve and Christmas Day or Christmas Day and Boxing Day but not all three. Full time and part-time nurses will be required to work either Christmas or New Years. Employees will submit their preference for Christmas or New Years off by October 15th of each year. The schedule will be posted no later than November 15th. If there are more requests for the Christmas or New Years time off than the employer can accommodate then scheduling for time off will be given to those who worked the Christmas or New years the previous year. If it is possible to schedule nurses to have both Christmas and New Year’s period off, then nurses will be schedule to be off by rotation and seniority. A nurse may exchange her holiday time off with another nurse by mutual agreement. D 20.01 When a permanent full time line becomes vacant in a unit, it shall be offered to permanent full-time nurses on that unit up to two (2) times, in accordance with article 10.07, prior to posting the vacancy hospital wide.

Christmas Scheduling. Each nurse (All shifts)
(a) Except where nurses are not normally required to work on weekends and paid holidays, the Employer will be scheduled schedule time off work for nurses for not less than four five (45) consecutive days at either Christmas or New YearsYear, unless otherwise requested by the nurse. If more days are possible beyond the five (5) days, such days may be granted, subject to the operational needs of the Employer. It is understood that nurses who are granted vacation in scheduling regulations may be waived during the period of approximately December 15th to approximately January 15th (the two (2) pay periods which includes encompassing the Christmas and New Years’ period Year’s holidays) to accommodate the time off for nurses. The full-time weekend worker will not continue to work their Master Schedule during the Christmas period.
(b) No nurse will be guaranteed the four (4) consecutive days off noted above. This provision will not apply to areas where nurses normally work Monday to Friday and are not normally scheduled to work on paid holidays. A nurse may request a lesser benefit under this provision. Such request is subject to review and approval both holidays unless requested by the Employer. Definition of Christmas nurse.
(c) No nurse will be scheduled to include Christmas Eve Day, commencing at 0700 hours, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day, concluding at 1900 hours on Boxing day. Definition of work two Christmas' or New Year's consecutively unless requested by the nurse.
(d) Those nurses who are off on pregnancy/parental leave are to include New Year's Eve Day commencing be considered as if they are not at 0700 hours and New Year's Daywork. Therefore, concluding upon their return from leave they pick up where they left off (e. g. if they were off on Christmas then pregnancy/parental leave the following year, they return to be scheduled on for Christmas).
(e) Time off during this period will be as per Christmas vacation process (Article F.2). Requests for vacation at 1900 on Christmas/New Year’s Day. If you are scheduled to work Christmas you will be scheduled either Christmas Eve submitted by October 1st and Christmas Day or Christmas Day and Boxing Day but not the resultant schedule will be posted by November 1st.
(f) Scheduling of nurses during the four-week Christmas/New Year’s period shall be in accordance with the following provisions:
i) For all three. Full full-time and part-time nurses working regular tours and extended tours time off at Christmas will be required deemed to work either Christmas or New Years. Employees will submit their preference for Christmas or New Years off by October 15th of each year. The schedule will be posted no later than November 15th. If there are more requests for the Christmas or New Years time off than the employer can accommodate then scheduling for time off will be given include: 0700 hours on December 24th to those who worked the Christmas or New years the previous year. If it is possible to schedule nurses to have both Christmas and New Year’s period off, then nurses will be schedule to be off by rotation and seniority.
