Casual Part-Time. A nurse whose written letter of offer does not contain any guarantee of hours of work and who may be called to work as and where required. Casual part-time nurses may work for a fixed term or task not to exceed six (6) months. Casual nurses must make themselves available for a minimum of one (1) shift every three (3) months. Casual part-time nurses do not have access to the bumping and layoff provisions as per Article 6.04. Should a nurse accept a casual part-time position after retiring from the Region that nurse will not be required to fulfill a probationary period.

Casual Part-Time. One who does not have any guaranteed hours of work, who may be called to work as and where required, and has no regular scheduled hours on an ongoing basis but will appear on the posted schedule whenever possible. The Employer shall not use Casual Employees for the purpose of restricting the number of Regular Full-time or Regular Part-time positions. Casual employees will be treated as regular part-time for all other purposes under the Collective Agreement except that they will have no bumping rights and except as modified elsewhere in the Collective Agreement. It is understood that a Casual Employee that does not submit availability for a period of six (6) months shall be deemed to have resigned.
Casual Part-Time i) Casual nurses will declare on a biweekly basis, their availability for work on specified days for the next two (2) week period. ii) Casual part-time nurses who declare themselves available for work shall notify the Employer as soon as a change in circumstances becomes known. iii) Casual nurses will not be called or scheduled to work until all available hours have been offered to regular part time nurses who do not incur a premium.
Casual Part-Time. A casual part-time employee is one called in for a part-time position on an irregular basis to fill vacancies of short-term duration largely created through illness, separations from the Kingston Police, etc.
Casual Part-Time i) Casual nurses will advise their Patient Care Manager of the dates and tours of which she or he may be available to work for a period of four (4) weeks in advance of the six (6) week schedule (timely availability). ii) A casual part-time nurse who becomes available for work shall notify their Patient Care Manager as soon as a change in circumstances becomes known (late availability). iii) Casual nurses will not be called or scheduled to work until all available hours have been offered to regular part-time nurses who do not incur a premium.
Casual Part-Time. A casual employee is someone who: 1. Does not have any guaranteed hours of work; 2. May be called to work as and where required; 3. Has no regular scheduled hours on an on-going basis, but will appear on the posted schedule whenever possible; 4. Casual employees will provide availability for a minimum of four (4) working days per month, and one of which will include at least one 11.25- hour weekend shift per month for those Casuals trained at Intake/Hospital. In addition a casual employee may work for a fixed term or task that will not exceed: (a) six (6) months for the purpose of filling a vacant position that has been posted, (b) six (6) months if the hours of work are full time, (c) twelve (12) months if replacing a regular part-time employee absent on leave, or in another term position, unless the parties agree otherwise in writing. The Employer shall not use the casual employees for the purpose of restricting the number of regular full-time or regular part-time positions. Casuals performing assignments, that were not first offered to other bargaining unit members, on the basis of seniority, may not rely on “qualifications” gained from that work in any future job postings.
Casual Part-Time. The casual part-time employee who wishes to be scheduled will: i) Supply her/his availability a minimum of two (2) weeks in advance of the schedule being posted, in writing. ii) Notify her/his manager/designate if they become available for work as soon as the change in circumstance becomes known. iii) Casual part-time employees who have submitted availability, prior to being scheduled the Hospital will confirm they are still available. iv) Notwithstanding the above, the hospital maintains the right to call all casual staff as per the Article H-5 (e).

Casual Part-Time. It is understood Article (g) and (h) above, does not apply to a casual part-time employee.
Casual Part-Time. A casual part-time Employee is a part-time Employee who is called to work on a call-in basis, but who does not work a regular schedule, or does so only for a specified period. Such Employee has the option of refusing work when it is made available to her, however, it is also understood that a casual part-time Employee who has provided availability cannot unreasonably or consistently refuse to work shifts.
