Collateral Services. Sessions with therapists or counselors and significant persons in the life 20 of the Client, focused on the treatment needs of the Client in terms of supporting the achievement of the 21 Client’s treatment goals. Significant persons are individuals that have a personal, not official or 22 professional, relationship with the Client.

Collateral Services consists of contact with one or more family members and/or significant support persons (when the client is not present) which may include consultation and training to assist in better utilization of services and understanding mental illness. CONTRACTOR shall provide as appropriate, individual and 31 group sessions for Client’s family members or significant others, excluding professionals such as 32 employers or doctors, to address varied systems dynamics which could contribute to the Client’s 33 relapse, and potential or actual use. Collateral Service shall include the Client unless determined 34 inappropriate by the Counselor.
Collateral Services sessions with therapists or counselors and significant persons in the life of the Client, focused on the treatment needs of the Client in terms of supporting the achievement of their treatment goals. Significant persons are individuals that have a personal, not official or professional, relationship with the Client. If the Client indicates a desire for collateral sessions, these services must appear on the treatment plan.
Collateral Services. CONTRACTOR shall provide, as appropriate and 20 documented in the Participant file, individual and group sessions for family members of the Participant.

Family counseling or therapy 32 which is provided on behalf of the student is considered collateral.

Collateral Services. Collateral Services can still be billed under Payment Reform. They simply no longer utilize a distinct service code called “Collateral”. Collateral can be a component of many mental health services. When documenting a collateral contract, providers should select the service code that most closely fits the service provided and it should be clear in the progress note that the service was provided to a collateral contact.

These services 12 shall address family dynamics, which could contribute to the Participant’s relapse and potential or actual 13 abuse in the family system.
