Compassionate Care Leave - Gravely Ill Family Member. An employee who is entitled to compassionate care benefits under the Employment Insurance Act is entitled to a leave of absence without pay for the purpose of providing care or support to a gravely ill family member at risk of dying within 26 weeks. The employee will be required to provide documentation to support their request for such leave. There will be no interruption in the accrual of seniority, vacation entitlement or benefits provided for under Article 25.
