Compensation for Working Overtime. (a) Overtime worked before and/or after an employee's normal workday shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half times for the first two hours worked and double-time thereafter. Overtime worked on an employee's scheduled day of rest shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half the employee's rate for the first two hours worked. All additional hours worked on their days of rest shall be paid at double-time the employee's rate of pay. (b) Employees shall have the option of being compensated for overtime in cash or compensatory time off. Banked overtime shall be taken in cash or time off prior to September 1st of each year. (c) If an employee elects to take compensatory time off, the Employer shall make every reasonable effort to schedule such time off by mutual agreement. (d) If mutual agreement on the scheduling of compensatory time off cannot be reached the employee may elect to receive overtime in cash for overtime earned. (e) Where the employee opts for payment in cash, the Employer shall make every reasonable effort to make payment by the end of the month following the month in which: (1) overtime was worked; and/or (2) cash payment was elected as provided for in 15.2(d) of this agreement. (f) Overtime must be authorized by the Employer, in advance, except in an emergency.
