CORPORAL / FIELD TRAINING OFFICER PROGRAM. Section 1 Section 2 A. Completion of no less than two (2) years of full-time law enforcement service, at least one (1) year of which is with the ▇▇▇▇▇▇ County Sheriff’s Office. B. Successful completion of the CJSTC Field Training Officer course. C. Satisfactory or above ratings in all areas of the member’s most recent Performance Evaluations. D. Completion of a minimum of one hundred sixty (160) hours of career development training. E. Successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours of college work from an accredited college or university. a. Approved CJSTC Career Development training can substitute for up to fifteen (15) credit hours of the thirty (30) credit hour college course work requirement as follows: i. Forty (40) hours of CJSTC training shall be equivalent to three (3) college credits. b. CJSTC Career Development training utilized to meet the minimum qualifications specified in Section 2D of this procedure may not be duplicated and used for college credit substitution in this Section. c. College credit awarded for the successful completion of the Law Enforcement and/or Corrections Academy may be applied to the college course work requirement of this Section. d. The requirements of this Section (2E) shall be effective as of April 1, 2017. F. Members must not have received disciplinary action as defined in standard operating procedure 222.00 (K), within 365 days from the date of the position posting. Any disciplinary action received during the above specified time frame for traffic crashes involving Sheriff’s office vehicles will be reviewed and considered on a case-by-case basis. G. The Sheriff may include additional job relevant requirements for the position of Corporal as deemed necessary.
