Daily Cancellation. A daily cancellation is a reduction of hours or a reduction in force carried out on a daily basis on a particular work unit and shift due to a reduction in the census or work requirements, or for such other business- related reason as the Employer determines to be appropriate.

Daily Cancellation. The Employer will determine whether a daily cancellation is necessary on a work unit and on a particular shift, and, if so, the job classifications/titles and number of hours or employees to be cancelled. The Employer will first cancel employees for whom overtime premium would be paid, and then employees working extra hours beyond their regular schedule, before cancelling employees working their regular straight-time shift. The Employer will cancel registry/temporary agency personnel prior to cancelling employees. whose work would be at the straight time rate of pay, provided the registry personnel are not guaranteed. The Employer will use its best efforts to avoid the use of guaranteed registry personnel. The Employer will accept volunteers from the work unit, shift and job classification/title in which cancellations are to occur, provided the volunteer’s schedule reflects the number of hours to be cancelled, and the remaining employees possess the qualifications, skills, abilities and competencies needed on the work unit or shift. Regular and Fixed Term employees who are cancelled, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, may elect to utilize accrued Paid Time Off. The Employer may also float an employee or assign an employee to another unit in lieu of cancelling the employee, in accordance with Section 11.5 Floating.
