Common use of Definition of Immediate Family Clause in Contracts

Definition of Immediate Family. The term is interpreted to mean: mother, father, spouse, parent of spouse, brother, sister, child, grandparent, grandchild, in-laws, or any dependent who lives in the immediate household. Upon written request, the Superintendent may allow up to two (2) days for death of a non-family member. It is anticipated that these would be extremely limited cases in which the teacher can show a familial-like relationship with the deceased. Bereavement leave of a special nature may be granted at the discretion of the Superintendent.
