Disbursement of the Professional Development Fund. The funds will be dispersed for professional development activities occurring within 18 months of the adjudication date by a joint committee of two representatives appointed by the Union and two representatives appointed by the University Selection Criteria for the Professional Development Fund: Applications from those who have not received prior funding from this fund in the current sessional assignment year (September 1 to August 31) will be considered first. Only Term Sessional Lecturers who have taught at least one course in each of 2 of the last 3 assignment years will be eligible. The per person maximum per sessional assignment year is $2,000 which may be split across more than one event. Funding is available for up to a maximum of $2,000 if the applicant is presenting a paper or poster, or is a panel discussant, or contributing significantly in other documented ways, at a professional development event. The maximum for attending a professional development event and for other professional development activities is $1,000. Successful applications will: • Demonstrate a direct positive impact on student learning at UVic by, for example, establishing a direct connection between the event to be attended and enhancement of the applicant’s teaching practice. • Clearly indicate how the activity will contribute to the applicant’s professional development. • Broadly fit into the concept of scholarship of teaching and learning or scholarly teaching in the discipline.

The maximum for attending a professional development event and for other professional development activities is $750.   • Professional Development Funds 23.1.1 Two Professional Development Funds, a Professional Development Support Fund and an Education Leave Fund, shall be established to support professional development activities as defined in 23.2. On April 1st of each year, the College will allocate an amount equal to no less than 0.9% of total faculty salary (exclusive of severance payments) to the Professional Development Support Fund, and an amount equal to no less than 0.6% of total faculty salary to the Educational Leave Fund.   • Professional Development Activities Professional development activities are activities initiated by individual faculty members or groups of faculty members and may include attendance at conferences, workshops or seminars which facilitate the following:

  • Professional Development Program (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members.

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT A. The Board agrees to implement the following:

  • Professional Development Allowance 55.1 The CEO may, subject to this clause, approve the reimbursement or payment of financial assistance to a Science and Engineering Professional employee to offset professional development costs.
