Sessional Lecturers. Every appointment of a Sessional Lecturer shall be to one of the following ranks: Sessional Lecturer III Sessional Lecturer II Sessional Lecturer I The rank of appointment shall be determined as follows:
Sessional Lecturers. Definition, Duties, Privileges and Responsibilities of Sessional Lecturers
(i) whose salary is fully paid from University operating funds, and
(ii) who is not in full-time employment with any other employer, and
(iii) who is not a retiree of the University, and
(iv) who on April 30, 1993 occupied the position of a Salaried Sessional Instructor or Salaried Clinical Instructor in Nursing and has done so for two (2) or more years; or who is appointed under Clauses 55:11 to 55:12.
Sessional Lecturers. 14:01 Posting and hiring of Sessional Lecturers shall be in accordance with the following provisions.
14:02 Sessional Lecturers are required to be superior classroom teachers and to maintain a mastery of the subject area. The duties of Sessional Lecturers shall include the normal duties associated with the design and teaching of university degree credit courses or sections of courses. These may include the preparation and delivery of course content, including lectures and/or seminars; creation of course ware; the development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; the marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours; and the supervision of the day-to-day work of any Sessional Instructional Assistants or Teaching Assistants assigned to the course. There is no expectation of or requirement for research or administrative service. The rank of Sessional Lecturer II is reserved for individuals with advanced degrees or with significant professional accomplishment, who have been advanced to this rank following a review process as specified in Appendix A: Advancement, and where a positive recommendation for advancement has been approved by the Chair and by the Division Head. The rank of Sessional Lecturer III is reserved for individuals who have been advanced to this rank, following a review as specified in Appendix A-2: Advancement to Sessional Lecturer III and where a positive recommendation for advancement has been approved by the Chair and by the Division Head.

The rank of Sessional Lecturer II is reserved for individuals with advanced degrees or with significant professional accomplishment, who have served at the rank of Sessional Lecturer I for at least four (4) academic years and who have delivered a minimum of eight (8) half courses or four (4) Full Course Equivalents (FCEs); and who have been advanced to this rank following a review process as specified in Appendix A: Advancement, and where a positive recommendation for advancement has been approved by the Chair and by the Division Head. The rank of Sessional Lecturer III is reserved for individuals who have been advanced to the Sessional Lecturer II rank, and who have served at the rank of Sessional Lecturer II in the advancing department for at least three (3) academic years and have delivered an average of four
Sessional Lecturers. Sessional lecturers/Instructors hired by Xxxxxxx Xxxxxx Institute through its various programs and subsidiaries and who are approved by the applicable university for teaching appointments shall:
1) Accumulate seniority for the periods of time they are employed based on three (3) hours seniority for each teaching hour.
2) Should a sessional lecturer/Instructor meet the criteria of the scope article and become in- scope they shall be entitled to the benefits of the Collective Bargaining Agreement as per Article 21.2, as per the benefit plan requirements.
3) If a sessional employee applies for and is successful in a competition in a core program position, they shall after successful completion of their probation period be entitled to count their seniority back to date of hire. Sessional employees who may fail their probationary period shall return to the sessional list. People hired after March 1, 2002 will be subject to the Affirmative Action criteria as contained in the CUPE Sessional Agreement and the SGEU/GDI Agreement.
Sessional Lecturers. Definition, Duties, Privileges and Responsibilities of Sessional Lecturers
(a) Sessional lecturer, when used in this Agreement, refers to a member of the bargaining unit:
(i) whose salary is fully paid from University operating funds, and
(ii) who is not in full-time employment with any other employer, and
(iii) who is not a retiree of the University, and
(iv) who on April 30, 1993 occupied the position of a Salaried Sessional Instructor or Salaried Clinical Instructor in Nursing and has done so for two (2) or more years.
(b) Sessional lecturers are appointed for an eight (8) month period from September 1 to April 30 and carry out teaching duties as their principal function.
(c) In the event of lay off, sessional lecturers shall be subject to Article 16 of this Agreement and, in accordance with clause 16:02 shall be laid off after probationary members but before members with tenure or permanence.
(d) It is understood that a member qualifying as a sessional lecturer under this clause will be reappointed from year to year as a sessional lecturer until the member has retired, quit, been dismissed for just cause or been laid off in accordance with the terms of this Agreement. Sessional Lecturers. APPOINTMENTS
15:01 (a) Victoria College shall maintain a pool consisting of all Sessional Lecturers who have been employed by Victoria College within the previous twelve (12) months. It shall be the responsibility of those in the pool employed within the past twelve (12) months to send Victoria College current contact information. It is understood and agreed that persons who have been terminated for cause shall not be included.
Sessional Lecturers. Writing Instructors with a minimum of six-hundred (600) hours of work and greater than four (4) years of service, and Sessional Lecturers, are required to establish a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP), and the University will match the employee’s contributions to that plan in the amount of 5% of the Sessional Lecturer’s earnings at Victoria University. The 5% employer contribution will be paid directly to the employee as T4 income. Employees will submit evidence of their enrollment in the RRSP and of their contributions to the Manager of Human Resources by March 31st of each year. The Union agrees that, in the event that the employee has not made the required contributions, the employer may recover its overpaid contributions from the employee through lawful process, including payroll deduction.
