Other Professional Development. The district will pay for other professional development, distance learning programs, conferences, workshops, etc., which, in the judgment of the Superintendent, are directly related to an employee's assigned work even if such distance learning programs, conferences, workshops, etc., are not a part of a program leading to a degree in the field of education. All requests for payment of the above must have had the prior approval of Superintendent and must be accompanied by evidence of satisfactory completion of the course, distance learning program, conference, workshop, etc., by the employee.

Other Professional Development. Association Members will participate in Fall and Spring LMC Days. Both will be full day events. All Faculty and Lecturers must successfully complete online teaching certification, offered through the Instructional Design and Teaching Technologies (IDTT) or another provider approved by the IDTT, prior to the beginning of the Fall semester of the second year of employment.

Other Professional Development. 3.7.1 Provisions for study leave and financial support for the payment of fees or associated costs for other external courses, including conferences, are at the discretion of the Employer in accordance with clause 3.3. 3.7.2 Employees may, at the Employer's discretion, participate in research and other activities that are directly relevant to upgrading, maintaining and disseminating their knowledge and expertise in the specialist area for which they are employed within the Centre. 3.7.3 Employees whose appointments are for two years or longer would be expected to make appropriate contributions to research and development towards effective professional development and school support services within the performance of their duties and may, with mutual agreement, affiliate with the appropriate academic department of the College. 3.7.4 Employees may also be employed for part-time, with a concurrent reduction in their full-time appointment with the Centre and funded by a budget authority from outside the Centre contracts, in an academic department of the College to teach and supervise students in a programme relevant to their professional expertise and experiences. Employees teaching in an academic programme will affiliate with the appropriate academic department of the College.
