District Curriculum Committees. Teachers and Administrators shall participate in district curriculum committees. The purpose of a curriculum committee is to review, evaluate, and develop curricula and assessments to be utilized by staff and students. District curriculum committees shall be established as needed, determined by the Curriculum Department, across disciplinary content areas. All committees shall be composed of licensed staff who volunteer to serve on them. The Administration shall determine the meeting schedule before the start of the school year. A reasonable effort shall be made to have a cross-section of participants to reflect the goals of the particular committee, it is recommended that the K-5 committee membership may include at least one teacher from each grade level from each school. The 6-8 curriculum committees will be held during department meetings with the goal to have the majority of all department team members present. Teachers participating on curriculum meetings outside the contractual day will be paid for their work based on the established rate per the Professional Negotiation Agreement.
