Common use of Education Leave of Absence for Veterans Clause in Contracts

Education Leave of Absence for Veterans. a. Employees who are reinstated in accordance with the Universal Military Training Act, as amended, and other applicable laws and regulations, will be granted leaves of absence for a period not to exceed a period equal to their seniority in order to attend school full time under applicable federal laws in effect on the date of this Agreement. b. Employees who are in some branch of the Armed Forces Reserve or the National Guard will be paid the difference between their reserve pay and their regular pay with the City when they are on full-time active duty with the Reserves or National Guard, provided proof of service and pay is submitted, and further provided that such period of time shall not in any one year exceed two (2) weeks. This will not affect vacation time.
