Common use of Emergency Annual Leave Clause in Contracts

Emergency Annual Leave. When emergencies or unforeseen circumstances arise, requiring the use of annual leave that has not been approved in advance, the approval of annual leave cannot be presumed by the employee. If an employee is unable to report for duty due to an emergency, they must notify their supervisor prior to the beginning of the shift unless compelling circumstances prevent this. If additional information is required, the supervisor may withhold the decision on approval or disapproval of annual leave for emergency reasons until the return of the employee to duty.
