Common use of Emergency Closing and Snow Days Clause in Contracts

Emergency Closing and Snow Days. Custodial/maintenance employees, technology aides, and secretaries who work on days which school is closed for emergencies shall be paid for such days. School year employees who do not work on snow days and who do not qualify for vacation benefits, shall be compensated their regularly scheduled hours for canceled work days due to weather. However, if days are required to be made up, the employees compensated under this provision shall work without additional compensation. No employee shall lose compensation as the result of a delayed start of a school day. Custodial, maintenance, and secretaries who work shall be paid for those days as follows: 1. Full day closing: paid for the number of hours worked only. 2. Partial day closing: paid for full day if sent home by supervisor; otherwise, paid for the number of hours worked only.
