Common use of Employees Transacting Union Business Clause in Contracts

Employees Transacting Union Business. The Company acknowledges that from time to time it will be necessary to grant Leave of Absence without pay to a reasonable number of employees holding Union office or accredited Union delegates to conventions or conferences, for a reasonable number of days, for the purpose of attending to Union business. Leave for Union business will be subject to Company requirements existing at the time and cannot be taken unless authorized by the Company. All requests for such Leave must be made in writing at least one (1) week in advance by the Union Business Manager or his alternate to the Labour Relations Department. In granting this leave, the cost to the Company will be taken into consideration.
