Family Responsibility Leave. (a) Employees may request, up to two (2) consecutive days of paid sick leave or unpaid leave shall be granted to employees in each employment year to attend to the care, health or education of a child or a dependent in the employee’s care, or to the care or health of any other member of the employee’s immediate family. Immediate family for this article means the spouse, child, parent, guardian, sibling, grandchild or grandparent of an employee, and any person who lives with the employee as a member of the employee’s family. While the importance of family related leave is recognized, the employees acknowledge and agree to supply the appropriate information, including documentation to support the request in accordance to ESA requirements when required by the Employer. (b) Notwithstanding (a) above, under the Employment Standards Act employees are entitled to a further three (3) days unpaid leave in each employment year to attend to the care, health or education of a child or a dependent in the employee’s care, or to the care or health of any other member of the employee’s immediate family. Immediate family for this article means the spouse, child, parent, guardian, sibling, grandchild or grandparent of an employee, and any person who lives with the employee as a member of the employee’s family.
