Federal and Provincial Offices. Subject to the Commission’s Conflict of Interest Policy, there are no restrictions on employees engaging in political activities on their own time as campaign workers. If an employee is nominated as a candidate for election, the employee shall be granted leave of absence without pay to engage in the election campaign. If elected, the employee shall, upon written request, be granted leave of absence without pay for a maximum period of five years. If not elected, the employee shall be allowed to return to the employee’s former position.
