Fetch Sample Clauses

Fetch. The first 6 algorithms are local, in the sense that they only affect the executing user’s state, and gen- erate protocol messages to be sent to the rest of the group. The last two algorithms, on the other hand, interact with the distributed protocol by sending transactions and fetching blocks, respectively.

Fetch. Instructions are fetched in-order. Here we present selected rules modeling instruction fetch: FETCH-BRANCH-HIT fetch | | ⊥ aj = apl(buf , a) buf < w aj(pc) p(aj(pc)) = beqz x, A Aj = predict(bp, aj(pc)) access(cs, aj(pc)) = Hit update(cs, aj(pc)) = csj update(bp, A, b) that updates the state bp of the branch predic- (m, a, buf , cs, bp) m, a, buf · pc ← Aj@aj(pc), csj, bp) tor by recording that the branch at program counter A has been resolved to value b, and predict(bp, A) that, given a predictor | | ƒ ⊥ fetch ==⇒( FETCH-MISS ==⇒( state bp, predicts the outcome of the branch at address A. • Schedulers determine which pipeline stages to activate buf < w aj = apl(buf , a) aj(pc) = access(cs, aj(pc)) = Miss update(cs, aj(pc)) = csj next. Following [13], [18], we model this choice using three (m, a, buf , cs, bp) m, a, buf , csj, bp) Table III: Signatures of the microarchitectural components Component States Initial state Functions Cache CacheStates cs0 access : CacheStates× Vals → {Hit, Miss} update : CacheStates× Vals → CacheStates Branch predictor BpStates bp0 predict : BpStates× Vals → Vals update : BpStates× Vals× Vals → BpStates Pipeline scheduler ScStates sc0 next : ScStates → Dir update : ScStates× Bufs → ScStates In these rules, and in those described later, apl(buf , a) denotes the assignment aj obtained by updating a with the changes performed by the commands in buf . Concretely, apl(buf , a) iteratively applies the pending changes for all commands in ⊥ ⊥ ∈ ← ∈ ⊥
