Filling Position Out Of. Classification (FPOC) Every regular employee temporarily assigned to and working in a classification with a salary range above that of the employee’s regularly assigned position as the result of special departmental need shall be paid FPOC pay while so assigned at a step within the range for the higher classification, after serving eighty hours in any calendar year in the higher classification. When an employee meets these requirements, the employee shall receive the higher of (a) 5% above the pay rate of his/her regular classification or (b) the first step of the salary schedule for the higher classification. Under no circumstances will a rate higher than the fifth step of the higher salary schedule be paid. No position may be filled out of classification unless established departmental procedures are followed and authorization from the Department Head is obtained. Probationary employees are not eligible to fill a position out of classification. To be eligible for compensation for filling a position out of classification, the employee has to possess the minimum qualifications for the higher classification and be capable of performing those specific tasks which he/she will be performing during this acting time and which differentiates it from the lower classification. Before FPOC status is attained, the necessary forms shall be approved by the Department Head or designee and Human Resources Director. Employees assigned to fill positions out of classification shall not acquire status or credit for service in the higher classification and may be returned to their regularly assigned position at any time. Employees receiving FPOC pay shall not receive the pay when on vacation or sick leave for two weeks or longer. The parties agree that to the extent permitted by law, the compensation for FPOC is special compensation for “classic member” employees and shall be reported as such pursuant to Title 2 CCR, Section 571(a)(3) Temporary Upgrade Pay.

  • Filling Positions ‌ The Employer will determine when a position will be filled, the type of appointment to be used when filling the position, and the skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the specific position within a job classification. Only those candidates who have the position-specific skills and abilities required to perform the duties of the vacant position will be referred for further consideration by the employing agency.

  • Filling Vacant Positions During the time the procedures outlined herein are in effect, position vacancies to be filled shall first be offered to regular employees who have a contractual right to be recalled to a position in the involved job classification or who may have a right to “bump” or transfer to the position, as the case may be. In such circumstances, the seniority provisions of the Agreement shall be observed. If no regular employee has a contractual right to the position, the following shall be given consideration in the order (priority) indicated below: 1st Priority: Qualified Job Bank employees 2nd Priority: Employees on a recall list 3rd Priority: Employee applicants from a list of eligibles 4th Priority: Displaced certified temporary employees 5th Priority: Non-employee applicants from a list of eligibles The qualifications of an employee in the Job Bank or on a recall list shall be reviewed to determine whether he/she meets the qualifications for a vacant position. Whether the employee can be trained for a position within a reasonable time (not to exceed three months) shall be considered when determining the qualifications of an employee. If it is determined that the employee does not meet the qualifications for a vacant position, the employee may appeal to the Director of Human Resources. If it is determined that an employee in the Job Bank is qualified for a vacant position, the employee shall be selected. The appointing authority may appeal the issue of whether the employee is qualified. The dispute shall be presented to and resolved by the Job Bank Steering Committee. If it is determined that an employee on a recall list is qualified for a vacant position, the employee will be given priority consideration and may be selected. Appeals regarding employees on a recall list and their qualifications for a position will be handled by the Civil Service Commission. The grievance procedure under the Labor Agreement shall not apply to determinations as to qualifications of the employee for a vacant position.

  • Permanent Positions All part-time and full-time positions shall be permanent unless identified as being fixed term in accordance with clause 2.2.5.

  • Position Vacancies When a new position is created or a vacancy occurs in any existing position, the Employer shall forthwith prepare and furnish the Federation and post in places as agreed upon by the Employer and the Federation, a bulletin stating among other things: Location and title of position to be filled; a listing of the principal duties of the position; minimum qualifications; assigned hours of service; assigned days of rest; salary range of the position; whether the position is permanent or temporary; if temporary, how long it is probable the position will continue; the starting date of the assignment; last date when applications will be received and accepted; and with whom the applications shall be filed.

  • Position Description The employee shall be responsible for drafting his/her position description form and shall forward it to his/her supervisor for approval. When the employee and the supervisor disagree on the job description, they shall meet promptly and attempt to reach an agreement on the employee’s job duties. In the event that an agreement cannot be reached, the supervisor will finalize the job description in accordance with the supervisor’s understanding and expectations of the position. The employee may submit his or her comments for the classification analyst to consider when reviewing the position description.

  • Position Descriptions Individual position descriptions shall be reduced to writing and delineate the duties currently assigned to an employee’s position. A dated copy of the position description shall be given to the employee upon assuming the position and when the position description is amended. The individual position description shall be subject to at least an annual review with the employee. Nothing contained herein shall compromise the right or the responsibility of the Agency to assign work consistent with the classification specification.
