Full Time Union Leave. Upon application by the Union in writing, the Nursing Home will give reasonable consideration to a request for leave of absence, without pay, to an employee elected or appointed to a full-time Union office. It is understood that not more than one (1) employee in the bargaining unit may be on such leave at the same time. Such leave, if granted, shall be for a period of one (1) calendar year from the date of appointment unless extended for a further specific period by agreement of the parties. Seniority and service shall accumulate during such leave to the maximum provided, if any, under the provisions of the Collective Agreement. It will become the responsibility of the employee for full payment, one (1) month in advance, of any applicable benefits in .which the employee is participating during such leave It is agreed that for the purpose of coverage, such employees are deemed to be employed by the Union.
