Common use of FUNERAL EXPENSES Clause in Contracts

FUNERAL EXPENSES. The City shall expend a sum not to exceed $7,500 for funeral expense to the heirs of any unit employee covered by this Memorandum of Understanding who dies while on active duty from injuries incurred while performing his or her job or who dies as a direct cause of such injuries. This benefit is not applicable to members who were not on duty at the time of injury which resulted in their death. Unit employees who are in the classification of Police Officer Recruit are not eligible for this benefit. This amount includes the amount of $5,000 already available for this purpose in accordance with California State Labor Code Section 4701.

This benefit is not applicable to members who were not on duty at the time of injury injury, which resulted in their death. Unit employees who are in the classification of Police Officer Recruit are not eligible for this benefit. This amount includes the amount of five thousand dollars ($5,000 5,000) already available for this purpose in accordance with California State Labor Code Section 4701.
