Common use of Furlough Days Without Pay Clause in Contracts

Furlough Days Without Pay. Subject to the prior written approval of the appointing authority, employees may elect to take furlough days or hours without pay (pre-authorized absence without pay), up to a maximum of fifteen (15) calendar days for any one period. Longer pre-authorized absences without pay are considered leaves of absence without pay. Employees who take furlough time shall have their compensation for the portion of the month worked computed in accord with Section 5.8 - Compensation for Portion of Month of this MOU. Full time and part-time employees who take furlough time shall have their vacation, sick leave, floating holiday, and any other payroll computed accruals computed as though they had worked the furlough time. When computing vacation sick leave, floating holiday, and other accrual credits for employees taking furlough time, this provision shall supersede Section 13.4 –
