Without Pay where an employee participates in a program of training for the purpose of qualifying for a higher rank; or

In meeting their obligation to the United States Armed Services, all members of the bargaining unit will be granted military leave without pay for periods extending beyond the 240 hours of paid military leave. Request for military leave must be in writing and countersigned by the principal. A copy of orders and written evidence that effort has been made to serve the duty at a time when school is not in session must be attached.
Without Pay. Conventions without pay to a reasonable number of representatives of the Union to attend conventions of the Union and bodies to which the Union is affiliated when requested in writing by the Union naming the employees for whom the request applies;

Such instances include, but are not limited to, criminal or civil cases, traffic court, divorce proceedings, custody or appearing as directed as parent or guardian of juveniles.
