GROUNDWATER TARGETS Sample Clauses

GROUNDWATER TARGETS. Groundwater within four miles of the site is used for community, domestic, and irrigation purposes. Based on information from the Department of Human Services (DHS) Drinking Water Program, 6 community drinking water systems comprised of 17 xxxxx are located within the 4-mile TDL (Appendix E). The screening depth of these community xxxxx ranges from approximately 50 to 120 feet bgs. The site is not within a wellhead protection area, as designated in section 1428 of the Safe Drinking Water Act. The area immediately around the site is served by city of Medford Water Supplies. However, there are some domestic xxxxx in the area. There are numerous domestic xxxxx present within the 4-mile TDL. A search of the OWRD‟s GRID (well log) database (15) for the appropriate target distance limits was conducted, and results are outlined in the table below. The GRID database does not always provide full location information, but the closest xxxxx identified are with the quarter section and these logs were examined to determine location as well as possible, for the larger TDLs, totals for each section within the 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-mile TDLs were calculated. Community xxxxx were located using the Oregon DHS Drinking Water Program Database (16). The following table shows the number of xxxxx within the 4-mile TDL. Copies of DHS Drinking Water Program information sheets for community xxxxx are presented in Appendix E.

GROUNDWATER TARGETS. Groundwater within four miles of the site is used for municipal, community, domestic, irrigation, and industrial purposes. According to City of Keizer “sewer only” accounts, there could be approximately 272 private domestic xxxxx in Keizer that are currently used to supply drinking water. Forty-one of those xxxxx contained PCE and/or TCE in the area. Four of the Keizer municipal supply xxxxx have been impacted with solvents. As discussed above, DEQ has connected 32 homes with impacted xxxxx to city water, and the City of Keizer has decommissioned 2 municipal xxxxx. Two other municipal xxxxx have had sporadic detections of PCE and TCE. As indicated above, the regional groundwater flow direction is believed to be west/northwest. Because the City of Keizer uses groundwater as a municipal source, it is likely that groundwater gradients may vary significantly, and a perfect correlation between distance and concentration may not be expected. A summary of well logs located within 4 miles of the site are included in Appendix D. The well logs for the closest xxxxx are also included in Appendix D. The following table includes target population data for people served by xxxxx at various distances from the site. The known contaminated xxxxx in Keizer are approximately within ½ mile of site boundaries. Therefore, all persons within a 1-mile radius who use domestic xxxxx or are supplied from the nearby city well are considered primary targets (italics in table below). Multiple sources were used to gather the following information, including Oregon Water Resources Department’s (WRD) well log database, US Census for population information, EPA SiteInfo Report, City of Keizer sewer only accounts, and Oregon Department of Human Services Drinking Water Program which manages community xxxxx. (See Appendix D for community xxxxx locations.) The City of Keizer has 13 municipal xxxxx. The water from the xxxxx is blended in the water distribution system. Keizer provides water to approximately 33,000 people. DEQ counted this target population at the closest municipal well (well #2) which is approximately 1/8 mile away from the site. GROUNDWATER TARGETS. Groundwater use within four miles is used for community and domestic water, irrigation, and industrial use (Oregon Water Resources Dept., EPA SiteInfo Report). The nearest drinking water xxxxx are located within ¼ mile from the site. The groundwater migration direction at the site is most likely north towards the Grande Ronde River. Based on the inferred groundwater direction, two of the nearest xxxxx are either upgradient or cross-gradient from the site. The third well is located on the opposite side of the Grande Ronde River from the site. A summary of well logs located within a 4-mile radius from the site is included in Appendix F. The well logs for the closest xxxxx are also included in Appendix F. The following table includes secondary target population data for people served by xxxxx at various distances from the site: Radial Distance from Site (miles) Number of Xxxxx Population Served (assumes 2.39 person / household) 0 - ¼ 3 domestic xxxxx 7.17 ¼ - ½ 12 domestic xxxxx 28.68 ½ - 1 27 domestic xxxxx 64.53 1 - 2 89 domestic xxxxx 2 community xxxxx 213 7,600 2 - 3 124 domestic xxxxx 1 community well 296 3,800 3 - 4 157 domestic xxxxx 1 community well 375 550
GROUNDWATER TARGETS. Groundwater use within four miles of the Site is used for community, domestic, irrigation, and industrial purposes. The nearest drinking water xxxxx are located within 1/8 mile of Site boundaries. As discussed in Section 2.2 above, several residential supply xxxxx have been contaminated, and DEQ has therefore installed treatment systems to protect the residents. As indicated above, the shallow groundwater flow direction at the site is unknown. A summary of well logs located within a 1-mile radius from the site is included in Appendix D. The well logs for the closest xxxxx are also included in Appendix D. The following table includes target population data for people served by xxxxx at various distances from the site. The known contaminated xxxxx are all within 1/8 mile of Site boundaries. Multiple sources were used to gather the following information, including Oregon Water Resources Department’s well log database, US Census for population information, EPA SiteInfo Report, City of Corvallis water use database, Oregon Department of Human Services, Drinking Water Program which manages community xxxxx and a door to door survey.
